Welcome to our home! My name is Alyssa. In 2021, my growing little family bought a run-down Victorian period property to turn into our forever home. I focus on the design, drawing inspiration from years of studying historical art from ancient to modern times. My husband Josh, a Construction Engineer, helps bring the vision to life as my very own handyman. With the help of our two dogs, Flynn and Koda, and our cat, Cornelius, we’re restoring this beautiful old home and preserving its history. 

I started Turret and Terrain, a blog to document the process and share the journey. The name is derived from the house’s most adored feature, the turret, a peak off the central point of the roof, and the surrounding terrain it sits on. My personal take on highlighting the work we have put into our very own home and garden. The goal is to honor the charm of the past while staying true to the property’s original character. Turret and Terrain is a source of home inspiration for all who appreciate architecture, design and nature.
