Withering

Withering is a series of photographs featuring “dead” flowers, capturing the beauty of botanical life at any stage. The collection’s underlying concept explores the notion that flowers lose their perceived value as soon as they no longer align with society’s ideals of perfection, utilizing botanical life to illustrate our connection to nature. A photo-transfer printing method is used to further convey this, imprinting each image onto a wooden surface, thereby infusing a layer of organic depth and resonance into the artwork.

FEATURED EXHIBITION

Seen and Unseen Exhibition

Throughout March 2018, the exhibition showcased works that recognize the artistic merit of photography students at Northern Michigan University’s School of Art and Design. “Rose,” a “dead” flower, captures the beauty of nature at any stage. The collection’s underlying concept explores the notion that flowers lose their perceived value as soon as they no longer align with society’s ideals of perfection. Utilizing the focus of botanical life, this framed photograph highlights our human connection to nature.Ā
